Lecture: Russell Kirk-Founding Father of American Conservatism

Wed, April 1, 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Bradley J. Birzer, Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy, will give a talk on Russel Kirk.  Russell Amos Kirk (1918-1994) is widely recognized as the founder of post-WWII American conservatism.  An eccentric in personality and armed with a razor-sharp intellect and pen, Kirk helped radically transform American political culture in the 1950s and 1960.  Yet, contrary to many images associated with modern conservatism, Kirk sought what was humane, tasteful, literary, and cultured.  This talk will explore his personality as well as his astonishing literary and historical output. This talk is free and open to the public.
